Custom-made net – not for playing, but for marveling!
On 20 March 2025, the exhibition “Mythos Wald” opened at the Gasometer Oberhausen. The museum is one of the most visited in North Rhine-Westphalia and, in this exhibition, is dedicated to the beauty and uniqueness of different forests. Visitors can discover the fascinating plant world as well as the animal inhabitants of the forest.
The highlight of the exhibition is the 35-meter-high art sculpture “Der Baum” (“The Tree”), which is considered the largest indoor light art installation in the world. For this extraordinary project, we developed a custom-made rope structure that serves as the support for the total of 2.8 kilometers of installed LED strands.
The black, custom-made net was installed over a six-week construction period in the Gasometer Oberhausen by professional rope access climbers. Our structure forms the foundation for the impressive light artwork and helps bring the monumental tree structure to life inside the Gasometer.
In an approximately 15-minute light show, the LEDs depict the four seasons as well as different weather moods. At the same time, the installation is intended to make the emotional atmosphere and the “inner life” of a tree experienceable.
The project shows how versatile our custom-made products can be used – not only in the playground sector, but also for extraordinary architectural and artistic installations.
Anyone who would like to experience the impressive light installation for themselves should certainly pay a visit to the “Mythos Wald” exhibition at the Gasometer Oberhausen.
