Climbing Structure at the Mellrichstadt Town Wall
At the center of the site next to the Mellrichstadt town wall stands our custom-made climbing landscape, covering approximately 320 square meters. Instead of installing individual pieces of playground equipment, we created a large-scale structure that integrates seamlessly into the historic setting while providing children with an exceptional play experience.
Our climbing towers, reaching heights of up to 9.20 meters, appear especially light and transparent thanks to their construction of slender steel posts and three-dimensional spatial nets. The subtle beige ropes blend harmoniously into the overall design, allowing the historic town wall to remain the site’s defining feature. Children climb safely within the towers, while net funnels, net tunnels, and bridges flexibly connect the different levels.
This structure connects directly to the accessible sun deck and the so-called “Town Balcony.” Ground-level balancing elements then lead to our approximately seven-meter-high Pentagode XL rope pyramid, which allows for unrestricted climbing in a three-dimensional environment.
Because the site is located within the Mahlbach floodplain, the play structure also stands out for its functional qualities. The open design and durable materials minimize susceptibility to flood damage. Combined with permeable safety surfacing, the result is a low-maintenance installation. The outcome is a vibrant destination for all generations, where history, nature, and adventure come together seamlessly.
